The Ovation Job Cost software ("Job Cost") was developed to fill a need of businesses to be able to successfully track and manage projects costs on a daily basis. It is intended to help you know what is happening every day not  30 days after the project is completed.

Job costing is complicated. Existing job cost systems are extremely detailed, often accounting based, and can cost tens of thousands of dollars. This can be well beyond the ability of small and medium businesses to learn or afford.

Ovation Job Cost simplifies daily entry using easy to enter forms such as timecards. It is expected that once set up for a project, that a person with minimal computer experience will be able to enter data and produce reports to manage the business. The software is priced to be affordable by any small business. It can easily pay for itself in savings on the first project due to better management of your project.

This software is to be used on the job site every day.  This software is not a replacement for an accounting system, although it does provide many accounting functions such as payroll time tracking or inventory.

An integral part of the software is the budgeting system. Here you can specify your budget or contract amounts based on major and minor codes and then once you have entered your daily production and costs can analyze how you are doing on the projects. If some work items are showing costs too high as compared to budget expectations then you can immediately focus in on these to solve the problems and save money!

The software includes capturing payroll time information, vendor rental and subcontract time, and purchasing information. Purchases can be included into an inventory. Job Cost is written for Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/Win7 operating systems and was build using SoftVelocity's 4th GL Clarion Professional  Development System Version 7. The reports were developed using Business Objects Crystal Reports Report Writer. The single user version of the Job Cost software uses one of Microsoft Access 2003, MSSQL2005, or MySQL Database to store the data.
